Because of this, I recommend that you DO NOT use that group for establishing security settings anywhere on your network (such as folders, drives, etc.). Users can then add or remove themselves directly from within their own Outlook, as long as they have a live connection to the Exchange Server (local, VPN, RPC, etc.):ġ) In Outlook, open a new email like you're going to send.Ģ) Click the TO button to view the Global Address Listģ) Right-click the desired Distribution Group (should appear bold, with a little "two-person" icon) and select PropertiesĤ) Click the "Modify Members" button, then click Add and select yourself (or others), or highlight a person on the existing list and click Remove to take them out of the Distribution Group.Ī few important caveats to understand: By doing this, you are allowing any authenticated end user to add themselves to this group, directly from their Outlook. ![]() Both of these will happen automatically, but doing them manually just speeds up the process, otherwise can sometimes take up to a full day to publish and replicate the updates.
